... and the return of our EYN open day. Happy New Year! 🥳 👀
Dear all, happy New Year!
We hope you all had (and are continuing to have) a wonderful break. We’ve enjoyed spending our holiday with loved ones, good food, and some cracking books. This January, we’re really excited to share with you two events we’ve been working hard on behind the scenes, and hope you’ll be able to join us for them. Read on for more!
NB: Don’t forget that you have until midnight tomorrow, 5 January, to enquire with us and secure a 10% discount on your editorial package. 🛒
Edit Your Novel open day with Professional Writing Academy
First up, join us on Monday 17 January from 12-2pm for our second open day, showcasing our Edit Your Novel online course, ahead of its next run in February. If you’ve been curious about the course, now’s your chance to get the inside track on what it’s really like and how it can help bring your writing to the next level. On the day, we’ll be hosting two exciting events:
12-12:40pm - Meet the tutors and find out all you need to know about our Edit Your Novel online course. Enjoy a tour around our online classroom and put any questions you have to the team.
12:45-1:30pm - Attend a roundtable talk between tutors Helen Corner-Bryant and Kathryn Price, and some exciting guest speakers (to be announced!). They'll discuss their experiences on the course and the industry today. We’ll also be joined by agent Kate Barker for her take on submissions.
We’ll be around afterwards to answer any questions that come up over the course of the day, and you’re always welcome to email us with queries if you’re unable to make the event.
As before, our open day is available to all – whether you’re interested in joining the course now or in the future, or would just like to pick up some free editing tips on your lunch break!
To attend, sign up for free tickets here. Please note that tickets will be available until 3:30pm on Friday 14 January.

Winning a novel award can transform your chances of landing a publishing contract. But what makes a manuscript shine out from the pile?
Next, we’re thrilled to be hosting a discussion – Are You Competition Ready? – with the Bath Novel Awards founder, Caroline Ambrose, on Tuesday 1 February from 1-2pm. Caroline joins us in conversation with Helen Corner-Bryant, where Helen will be chatting through: the golden rules of editing; how and when to get your competition submission ready; and what to do next, and Caroline will be sharing her tips on how to maximise your chances of success. So if you’re keen to learn:
How to gauge when you're ready to enter a competition
How to choose the right competition for you and your novel
Tips on submission presentation - from formatting to knowing where to stop
Key ingredients readers hope to find in opening pages
How to nail a one page synopsis
… sign up to join! Tickets are now available here.
In the meantime, if you have any questions about the writing, editing, or submissions process, we’re here to help. We’re officially back in the office and are looking forward to catching up on emails we received over the break.
Very best,
